DJ Drama is taking accountability.

During an appearance on the New Rory & Mal podcast, the music executive spoke about his role in the Drake vs. Meek Mill beef. Drama admitted he could’ve handled the situation much differently, suggesting his actions helped fuel the years-long drama. However, he doesn’t believe he was the only one at fault.

The issue between Drake and Meek began back in 2015, when the Dreamchasers rapper claimed Quentin Miller was Drizzy’s ghostwriter. Meek would later share Miller’s reference tracks for “10 Bands,” “Used To,” “Know Yourself,” which appeared on Drake’s If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late. It was later reported that Meek had gotten the tracks directly from Drama, who was allegedly trying to get back at Drake for hooking up with his ex.

“Listen, everybody did something wrong, everybody,” DJ Drama told the hosts. “Quentin did something wrong, DJ Drama did something wrong, Drake did something wrong, Meek Mill did something wrong, Nicki Minaj did something wrong, like everybody played a role.”

Drama said he had love for everyone who he named, and hoped none of them took his comments in the wrong way.

“It’s water under the bridge. It went down. It was a hip-hop moment, you know what I’m saying? Like it’s hip-hop history,” he said. “Those guys have gotten to tell their true sides of their stories … There’s also a lot that I’ve held back on and haven’t put out there. One day, will it all make sense? Maybe. But, you know, maybe some things are just left to be untold. But everybody played a role in how it went down. Nobody’s all the way innocent.”

The infamous beef was finally squashed in 2018, when Drake invited Meek on stage during the Aubrey & the Three Migos tour.

Drake reflected on the moment in an Instagram post.

“This really gave me peace of mind tonight,” he said. “Healing and moving forward created one of the most electric and gratifying moments of my career. @meekmill I’m happy that you are home and that we could find our way back to our joint purpose 🙏🏽🙌🏽.”
