Lil Nas XĀ hasĀ added another accolade to his mantle.

The Atlanta City Council has officially declaredĀ Oct. 20, 2021, as ā€œLil Nas X Day.ā€ Officials presented the honor Wednesday night atĀ The Gathering Spot, where the Grammy-winning rapper was joined by fans, friends, and ATL residents who celebrated his contributions to not only music, but the LGBTQ community.Ā

As pointed out byĀ TMZ, mayoral candidate Antonio Brown presented Lil Nas with the proclamation plaque, and shared a few kind words about the entertainerā€™s influence.

ā€œHe has made a considerable impact on the LGBTQ community by reshaping how society accepts LGBTQ artists within the music industry, and empowering others to break barriers and be more open, expressive, and personal through music and art,ā€ BrownĀ said. ā€œAnd Lil Nas X, I just wanna say you inspire me. Iā€™m running to be the mayor of Atlanta. I would be the first LGBTQ mayor in the history of the city. And you inspire me, allow me to believe I can do it. So thank you.

ā€œThank you all for being here. This is incredible ...ā€ he said on stage. ā€œIā€™m not gonna cry. Shout out to Atlanta. I know a lot of you probably didnā€™t know Iā€™m from Atlanta ā€¦ Iā€™m from the A. But seriously, this is amazing.
