Wale believes Future’s impact on hip-hop is not up for debate.
In a recent tweet, Wale, who’s currently on the road with his Every Blue Moon tour, said that the current Mixtape Pluto chart-topper “means so much to hip-hop,” thus earning him a top 10 ranking when it comes to all-time discussions.
“Future means so much to hip-hop,” Wale wrote on X. “A top ten. I’m not debating that one.”
The impact, of course, is decidedly hard to deny. With the aforementioned Mixtape Pluto, Future has bagged his third No. 1 album on the Billboard 200 in six months following We Don’t Trust You and We Still Don’t Trust You with Metro Boomin. His influence can also be readily heard in newer school artists, with his beloved mixtape run from 2014-2016 still cited as a massive moment for fans and artists alike.
Though he didn’t mention Future again, Wale did return to the topic in a more general sense in a subsequent tweet in which he also gave praise to The Beach Boys and Devin The Dude.
“Excuse me for having a diverse palate,” Wale wrote. “Art is subjective.”
