Watch Sudan Archives Perform “Homesick” on ‘The Tonight Show’

In the coming months, Sudan Archives will remain on the road, including dates with Caroline Polachek and a performance as part of the 2023 Coachella lineup.

Sudan Archives brought “Homesick (Gorgeous & Arrogant),” a track off last year’s widely praised Natural Brown Prom Queenalbum, to the Tonight Show stage on Monday.

Joining the acclaimed violinist and songwriter of the performance was an expertly assembled band boasting trumpet, bass, and drums. The addition of a wine glass, meanwhile, was handled by Sudan Archives’ fellow Stones Throw Records signee Peanut Butter Wolf.

Natural Brown Prom Queen landed on a number of year-end lists, including Complex’s own rundown of the 50 best releases of the year. The album, the second from Brittany Parks (a.k.a. Sudan Archives), was joined on the 2022 ranking by releases from Kendrick Lamar, Denzel Curry, Bad Bunny, and more.

Last week, Sudan Archives was revealed as one of the artists set to perform at this year’s Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in Indio. Headlining the 2023 proceedings are Bad Bunny, Blackpink, and Frank Ocean.

A selection of Natural Brown Prom Queen tracks were given the official video treatment in the run-up to the album’s rollout, including “NBPQ (Topless),” directed by Agusta YR, and “OMG Britt,” directed by Zach Sulak.

Also on the calendar for Sudan Archives in the coming months is a run of dates with Caroline Polachek, whose upcoming fourth album Desire, I Want to Turn Into You will be released on Feb. 14.
