RZA Wants a Chance to 'Bite Somebody' on FX's Vampire Comedy 'What We Do in the Shadows'

The recently TV-ified vampire comedyWhat We Do in the Shadows could certainly use a little RZA, and he's more than up for the challenge.

The Wu-Tang icon recently toldEntertainment Weekly that, while he hasn't had a chance to catch the inaugural season of FX's series yet, he's game to go vampirical for a guest part.

"I'd better pop in there and bite somebody," he said of the show, which premiered in March and is currently halfway through its eight-episode first season. "I'll show up with the gold fangs, right? Instead of regular vampire fangs, I'll have the grill!"

The series, of course, marks the television revival of the critically acclaimed 2014 movie of the same name. The series was created by original star Jemaine Clement, also known for his expertise as one half of Flight of the Conchords.

Speaking with EW, RZA said he feels "fortunate" that he's landed two recent gigs in the horror world, noting his own personal fandom. "You know, my first time on a movie screen was in a Jim Jarmusch film, on Ghost Dog," he said, shouting out Jarmusch's 1999 film starring Forest Whitaker. "I think I was on camera for like 12 seconds but I'll never forget that."

RZA's other horror-related credits including scoring and starring in Dallas Jackson's 2018 directorial debut Thriller, as well as a spot in Jim Jarmusch's hopeful summer 2019 instaclassic The Dead Don't Die. He'll be joined in that one by a stacked cast that also counts Selena Gomez, Adam Driver, Tilda Swinton, and his Coffee & Cigarettes collaborator Bill Murray.
