Childish Gambino's much anticipated album Awaken, My Love! just dropped last night and Questlove has made it clear he co-signs the project to the fullest. So much that he woke up a legendary singer to gush about it.
"Dude I'm so fucked up right now. I can't even form the proper hyperbolic sentence to explain to D'angleo why I woke him up at 4am to listen to this," Questlove begins the message, before reaching back in his memory to recount the "last time someone sucker punched me on this level." Three projects ended up surfacing: Prince and The Revolution's Around the World in a Day, Sly & The Family Stone’s There’s a Riot Going On, and Amy Winehouse’s Back to Black.
"I thought I was getting some fresh millennial 2016 hip hop shit and I got sucker punched," he continues. "Jesus Christ the co-author of #WearwolfBarmitzvah just SONNED the shit outta me. In the best way possible." Classic scene, by the way.
