Quavo was reportedly detained in Miami this weekend following an alleged robbery aboard a yacht.
Page Six reports that the incident happened on Sunday night in what is being called a strong-arm robbery. According to the Miami Beach Police Department, two men on the boat started to act in a “very aggressive” manner toward the captain and crew after they were told that their boat rental was ending.
The men allegedly insisted on a refund and verbally threatened the captain and crew. The captain later told police that one of the men took his wallet and phone, and then said they’d “kill” him and “throw him off the boat.”
The yacht’s owner called local authorities to the scene. “Several males” were later detained, per the police report.
While Quavo was aboard the vessel at the time, he was not involved in the incident. The two men were later identified as Cornell A. Whitfield and Anteneh A. Workeneh. Still, video from the incident shows the rapper being held with zip ties around his wrists. Police later released him.
“[Police] let [Quavo] go later and he and his entourage left in these big black SUVs with blacked-out windows,” a source told Page Six, adding that the 32-year-old was with a bodyguard and a bevy of women.
Police didn’t arrest anyone following the incident because of opposing statements.
