The track comes on the heels of Durk and 6ix9ine’s heated online exchange in which they claimed to have received seven-figure offers to continue trolling each other. Durk said 6ix9ine’s camp wanted to pay him $3 million to keep their feud going, presumably for publicity purposes. However, 6ix9ine claims he was offered $5 million to troll Durk and bring more attention to Durk’s forthcoming album.
Many believed Friday would mark a showdown between the rappers’ respective albums, but it turned out Durk’s “The Voice” was a single rather than a full-length effort.
The song comes nearly four months after Durk unleashed his Just Cause Y’all Waited 2 album, and just weeks after he dropped his “Laugh Now Cry Later” track with Drake. Durk recently spoke about the Drizzy collab with Complex, and claimed they had more joint records in the vault.
"Yeah, it ain’t the only one," he said about the joint track. "It ain’t the only one. I’ll leave it at that."
There’s still no word on when the Chicago-bred rapper is expected to drop his next LP. While we wait for more information, you can stream “The Voice” now on Apple Music and Spotify. Durk also shared a music video for the track, which you can watch up top.
