Joey Badass Release '2000' Album

After a month-long delay, Joey Badass’s2000 album is finally here.

The Pro Era rapper was originally set to drop the project on June 17, but was forced to postpone the release due to clearance issues that were out of his control. Fans didn’t receive an update until about two weeks later, when Joey confirmed 2000 would arrive by the end of July.

2000 serves as the sequel to Joey’s debut mixtape, 1999, which turned 10 years old on June 12. He reflected on the past decade while speaking to Vibe at the 2022 BET Awards, where he also shared a few details about his new album.

“It’s been a long time coming,” he told the outlet. “It’s funny that you say 10 years because 10 years ago I got nominated for my first award at the BET awards, for best mixtape for 1999. 10 years later, we here. It’s my first time on the carpet, my first time at the award show actually. I’m grateful to be here.”

He continued: “On the new album 2000, what should be expected is that classic Joey sound, you know what I’m saying? That authentic Joey. Everything that you want out of Joey Badass, you’re going to get from this project right here. I’m excited for this.”

2000 spans 14 tracks, including the previously released singles “Head High, “Where I Belong,” “Survivors Guilt,” and “Zipcodes.” It also boasts features by Westside Gunn, Diddy, JID, Larry June, and more.

You can stream 2000 now on Apple Music and Spotify. Joey is in the midst of the album’s supporting tour with guest Capella Grey. The trek is set to conclude next week in Los Angeles.
