Earlier this week, 50/50innertainment ruffled a few feathers on social media when it posted list of the “Top 50 Female Rappers of All Time.”
The outlet’s top 10 was as follows: Nicki Minaj, Lil Kim, Missy Elliot, Queen Latifah, Lauryn Hill, Left Eye, Da Brat, Eve, Foxy Brown, and Cardi B.
Rounding out the Top 20 were Trina, Lady of Rage, Gangsta Boo, Roxanne Shante, Megan Thee Stallion, Mia X, Rapsody, Yo-Yo, Mc Lyte, and No Name.
While the top 20 is defendable, a pair of female rappers took issue with their placement, or lack thereof, on the list.
JT, one-half of the Miami-based hip-hop City Girls, took to Twitter Friday night to question why she and Yung Miami were left off the list, even admitting that it might be because “we sing!”
“Where the city girls?” she wrote. “I guess we sing! Could’ve least put us #50.”
Meanwhile, Kash Doll, who was slotted at No. 43 on 50/50 Entertainment’s list, wasn’t too happy about her placement. Granted, the Detroit rapper has not released a full-length offering since 2019’s Stacked.
And yet, Kash Doll didn’t shy away from refuting her ranking, writing, “Hilarious,” in response to 50/50innertainment list.
