In the latest news surrounding the divorce saga between Dr. Dre and Nicole Young, the music mogul is contesting his estranged wife’s abuse claims, accusing Young of bringing up his past history of domestic violence in an attempt to get money out of him.
According to TMZ, Dre has filed new legal docs that claim Young’s abuse claims are false and that she didn’t bring up the allegations until after she seeing that their prenup wouldn’t allow here to recieve half his wealth. In the docs, obtained by TMZ, the 56-year-old superproducer also denies abusing her before they were married, including the night before their wedding.
The aforementioned abuse allegations came to light in January, when Young asserted that Dre held a gun to her head on two separate occasions in 2000 and 2001, punched her in the face twice, and kicked her down the door of a room she had been “hiding from his rage in 2016.”
Chatter surrounding Dre and Young’s divorce proceedings escalated in February, when DJ Silk teased an unreleased Dre-KXNG Crooked collaboration on Instagram Live. “Trying to kill me with them lies and that perjury,” Dre raps on the track, before seemingly referring to his ex-wife as a “greedy bitch” and a “bitch and a perjurer.”
In March, a judge denied Young’s request for an emergency restraining order against her estranged husband. Days later, Dre’s attorney Laura Wasser filed a motion for bifurcation, arguing that his ex-wife’s “false allegations of domestic violence” demonstrate that their union is beyond repair.
Over the next few months, Dre will continue paying for Young’s living expenses in the Malibu home that the two once shared, as well as her mother’s Pacific Palisades residence.
