"Blood Moon" is the first track taken from Mike Will's upcoming album, which serves as a follow-up to his 2017 major label solo debut Ransom 2. Uzi provides a rapid flow on the new song, which is built over a hypnotic vocal loop and steady, skittering hi-hats and thumping percussion.
It also marks Mike Will's first song with top billing since 2020's "What That Speed Bout!?" featuring Nicki Minaj and YoungBoy Never Broke Again.
Ahead of the arrival of the single, Mike Will Made-It shared a video that showed him in the studio with J. Cole. Some fans took it as an indication that Cole will be hopping on a song with Mike soon, but as far as "Blood Moon," Cole is listed on Spotify as a writer and co-producer.
In Mike Will's post and a subsequent clip, Cole appeared to play a role in how the sample at the core of the song was cut.
Uzi is remaining ever-so prolific in 2023, and has suggested that they have a follow-up to the chart-topping Pink Tape already. Following the release of the album, Uzi asked fans to help get Pink Tape to No. 1 and promised to "drop the album y'all really looking for" if it topped the charts.
Since then, they've shared the cover art to the long-teased Barter 16, its title being a reference to Young Thug's Barter 6.
Uzi shared the art to celebrate Thug's birthday, and teased that it'll be arriving "soon." Lil Uzi Vert also appeared on DJ Khaled's "Supposed to Be Loved" featuring Lil Baby and Future last week.
