Last year saw Miami rap duo City Girls catapult to stardom thanks to a memorable appearance on Drake's "In My Feelings," and what followed only further raised their stature. However, at the height of their newfound fame, one half of the duo, Jatavia Johnson, turned herself in to serve an almost two-year sentence for felony identity theft charges. She was originally due to be released March 21, 2020, but now Quality Control co-founder Pierre "Pee" Thomas has indicated she'll be home even sooner.

JT and her legal management filed a request to be let home early last month, and it was reportedly denied. However, in an interview with Miami's 99 Jamz radio station, Thomas said that she'll be released "within the next 90 days." "But I just feel like it’s a minor setback for a major comeback, ‘cause when artists go to the jail they come out bigger, like Kodak."

The duo were also nominated for Best Group and Best New Artist at the BET Awards 2019, although they did not walk away with any wins. But, Pee and Coach K accepted the Music Award at Culture Creators 2019 whle Lil Baby won his first reward ever by taking home Best New Artist.

In other City Girls news, Yung Miami revealed earlier this month that she's expecting.
