It’s been over six years since Zayn Malik left One Direction and took his talents to, well, solo stardom. And while some fans will always be a little upset about that fateful day in March of 2015, bandmate Liam Payne is ready to have some fun with the whole thing.

Payne, who joined Complex for some sneaker shopping back in 2018 and has found himself a following of 5.1 million fans on TikTok as a solo artist, seems to have found an oldie-but-a-goodie in his drafts, and decided today was the day to unleash it.

The “Sunshine” singer’s latest TikTok features the caption “POV the meeting after Zayn quit,” with the additional context of, “forgot I had this in drafts.” Liam then jokingly mouths along to “Are we absolutely sure what direction we’re going” as the clip’s soundbite.

“Forgot I made this awhile ago,” Liam writes, “Hope you see the funny side.”

While it’s been nearly eight months since Zayn shared his third solo release Nobody Is Listening, it hasn’t been a totally quiet year for the former 1D crooner. Earlier this summer, Zayn’s girlfirend Gigi Hadid penned an open letter to fan accounts, press, and paparazzi, encouraging them to protect the privacy of her and Zayn’s infant daughter, Khia, by avoiding sharing their child’s face on social media.

“She doesn’t understand why she’s covered in the city, or what I’ve wanted to protect her from,” Hadid wrote. “I also want her to see the most amazing city in the world + the beautiful and diverse people that walk down the streets of NYC…that is, without the stress of the media circus that comes with parents who are public figures.”
