Kelly Price is setting the record straight about why she was on stage for the Cash Money vs. No Limit Verzuz at ComplexCon 2025 in Las Vegas.

Though some viewers on social media were confused about her presence, the singer explained in a livestream following the event that she was merely up there to support her friend and No Limit rapper, Mia X. You can hear her words for yourself at around the two-minute mark in the video linked here.

“She held it down. She was the only female MC on the stage tonight, and so we went to go hold it down with Mia and she did just like I knew she was gonna do,” Price gushed during her livestream. “She destroyed the convention center tonight. She destroyed them. I'm sorry, them boys can't do nothing with her. I'm so proud of her.”

“She's literally one of the kindest, sweetest people that I've ever met, and we've been down with each other for like thirty years,” she continued.

Further into the stream, Price said she went out of her way to be an assistant for Mia’s high-profile appearance.

“I was her assistant tonight,” she said. “I had towels and water and, like, whatever. She was up there, she was sweating, she was getting hot. I was like, ‘You need to drink some more water, you need to stay hydrated.’”

Price described the evening as a “love fest” between the two legendary Southern labels, before mentioning that stars and executives were present at the Las Vegas Convention Center to catch the action.

"Anybody who was anybody was out here tonight," she said, mentioning that LeBron James and his wife Savannah were spotted in the crowd.

But Price also hinted at a tense ending to the otherwise celebratory night, saying, "It was good, but you know, Negroes be negroing. We got right to the end of the night... I was like, ‘Yeah, it's time to go.’"

Her remark seemed to reference the late-night drama sparked by Birdman, who ended the show with an unexpected insult toward Turk, calling him "a little bitch."

In a follow-up Instagram post on Sunday, Price further explained why she and Mia X were together backstage.

"She jacked my phone," Price wrote in her caption. "They didn’t want phones in that backstage area you’re not gonna have me in the building with 30,000 people and I don’t have a way to communicate with the outside world so I snuck my name but she took it. That's why we were together! Mia X is the #GOAT."

LeBron James agreed with Price's praise, later posting on X, "MIA X MVP so far!! She soooooo [frozen face emoji]."

There are not a lot of details about Price and Mia’s friendship online. However, Mia was one of the few trusted individuals to have been kept in the loop about Price’s condition during her 2021 health scare.

ComplexCon 2025 concludes on Sunday with performances from Central Cee, Young Thug, Ken Carson, and 2hollis.
