On Monday, Lady Gaga and the advocacy organization Global Citizen announced a televised event, titled One World: Together At Home, that couples well with the $35 million they raised over the past week to combat the coronavirus.
It was announced that the money will go to The World Health Organization.
As for the televised event, that'll air at 8 p.m. ET on April 18, and it'll be big enough to be broadcast by ABC, NBC, CBS, and other networks simultaneously.
USA TODAY adds that the special will also be carried on YouTube, Apple, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and others.
“We want to highlight the gravity of this historical, unprecedented cultural movement ... and we want to celebrate and encourage the power of the human spirit,” Gaga said.
The special will feature Stevie Wonder, Paul McCartney, and (for those born at some point after, say, 1982) Billie Eilish.
Additional appearances will be made by: Elton John, David Beckham, John Legend, Eddie Vedder, Kerry Washington, Coldplay’s Chris Martin, Lizzo, J Balvin, Andrea Bocelli and Maluma.
Still more names set to appear include: Billy Joe Armstrong of Green Day, Lang Lang, Kacey Musgraves, Alanis Morissette, Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Shah Rukh Khan, Keith Urban, Burna Boy, and Finneas.
Also said to participate in some way will be Idris Elba and his wife, Sabrina, who both tested positive for the virus last month.
The special is not intended to be a fundraiser, but rather is an entertainment event for the masses yearning for something in a bleak (and dull) period. Gaga also stated her intent to raise more money.
“Put your wallets away ... and sit back and enjoy the show you all deserve," she added.
The special intends to highlight those directly impacted by the disease, and will also celebrate healthcare workers.
Hosting duties will be assumed by a trio who are more than capable. By that we mean they'll be done by Stephen Colbert, Jimmy Fallon, and Jimmy Kimmel.
