Atlanta singer Summer Walker has released her debut album Over It—the follow-up to her 2018 breakout project Last Day of Summer.
The album spans 18 tracks, including the singles “Playing Games,” “Stretch You Out” with A Boogie wit da Hoodie, and the platinum-certified “Girls Need Love” remix featuring Drake. Walker spoke about the Drizzy collaboration during a recent sit-down with Billboard, explaining how the remix came to be.
“I think [Drake] slid into the DMs and was like, 'I saw your video on a bowling alley monitor—thought it was cool,'” she recalled. “And then Justice [Baiden, co-founder her record label LVRN] made me ask him [to hop on the song] and he said yes.”
Over It also includes guest appearances by PARTYNEXTDOOR, Bryson Tiller, Usher, 6lack, and Jhené Aiko, who also teamed up with Walker on the newly released “Triggered (Freestyle)” remix.
You can stream Over It now on all major platforms.
"How many people actually get the artist they sampled on the song with them," Walker said to Apple Music of her "Come Thru" track, which samples Usher's "You Make Me Wanna…" She continued: "To have Usher on this with me is so amazing and such a big deal for me and R&B in general. I hope everyone loves our spin on his classic record." Speaking of Apple Music, Walker was the platform's most streamed Female R&B Artist in the month of September and was included on their R&B playlist R&B Now.
Later this month, Walker will embark on the First and Last Tour with Melii. The trek will include stops in Dallas, Los Angeles, Vancouver, NYC, and Memphis.
