Choppa's "Choppa Style" has become a cult classic record with its infectious beat permeating into various spaces including the New Orleans Saints locker room. As a result, the track has been heavily sampled leading a producer to claim that a host of artists owe him money.
According to court documents obtained by TMZ, "Choppa Style" producer Kirk "DJ JMK" Edwards is seeking to collect damages from rappers who unlawfully sampled his record. Edwards and his team state that rappers and producers have "misappropriated many of the recognizable and key protected elements" of the instrumental he created in 2000. He's now suing them for copyright infringement.
Artists included in the case are French Montana and Yo Gotti who sampled the song in their 2017 single "Oh Yeah" as well as Cardi B and City Girls.
Per Edwards, Cardi and City Girls took a piece of "Choppa Style" when building the instrumental for their hit record "Twerk." The track went on to spend 20 weeks on the Billboard chart where it peaked at the No. 3 spot.

"Choppa Style" first caught the public's attention when Master P gave Choppa a verse for the record in 2002. To this day, the song has amassed over nine million views on YouTube.
DJ JMK simply wants payment for the samples.
