The mother of XXXTentacion’s child will be able to acquire a DNA sample from the late rapper, The Blast reports.

A judge has granted the petition filed by the child’s mother, Jenesis Sanchez, who will be able to obtain the DNA from the medical examiner and establish paternity for her son, Gekyume Onfroy. XXX’s mother, Cleopatra Bernard has been trying to block Sanchez's request.

Sanchez reportedly dated and lived with the rapper in the months leading up to his death last June. According to The Blast, Sanchez explained she and XXX had “sexual relations during the time that Gekyume was conceived from Feb. 19 through June 18, 2018, the day of the Decedent’s death.” She gave birth to the rapper’s son on Jan. 26, 2019.

Sanchez said they weren’t married when she gave birth and claimed nobody challenged the fact that XXX is Gekyume’s father—she just wanted to prove it.

Bernard sealed her court filings in opposition, so it’s unclear why she objects to a paternity test. Some fans suspect it has something to do with her financial stake in XXX's estate.

Sanchez is also set to play a role in XXX’s murder trials. The Blast revealed that Florida prosecutors have new evidence to present against the rapper’s suspected killers Michael Boatwright, Dedrick Williams, Robert Allen, and Trayvon Newsome. Attorneys state that among the new evidence are statements provided by parties with connection to XXX and/or the defendants, which includes Sanchez.

Prosecutors will present two statements from Sanchez but did not reveal the details of the said accounts. Statements from Bernard will also be used in the forthcoming trials.
