Nipsey Hussle raised quite a few eyebrows when he made the decision to sell his Crenshaw mixtape for $100 a pop. Luckily, one pair belonged to Lauren London. The actress explained that she met Hussle due to a third-party DM slide looking for a copy of the pricey tape.

“Our stories are very different,” she said in an interview with GQ. “I did not slide into his DMs. My homeboy did...”

Nipsey admits that he was operating on a "scarcity model," making few copies of the album and selling them for a premium.

“Jay-Z bought a few copies, et cetera,” he explained.

It caught the attention of London, who bought a mixtape and then followed him on Instagram.

“You know what that means, right?!” Nipsey said, before admitting that he pulled off a proper DM slide. The rest is history, as the couple have been together for 5 years and are currently raising a son together.

His interesting mixtape business model worked on a level it wasn't even intended to. And given that success, it might not shock you to learn that Nipsey is still scheming. The veteran rapper is a fan of doing business, and he has his sights set on becoming a real-estate mogul in his native Crenshaw, building residential buildings along Slauson Avenue, as the area is set to change quickly. Light rail is being built to connect the economically disadvantaged area to the rest of the city, complete with a train station mere steps from where Nipsey plans to open his residential building.

If it's anywhere near as successful as his last project, expect Nipsey to be rubbing elbows with the upper-crustiest set soon enough.
