The past week has been tumultuous for Young Thug, to say the least. After teasing a new album titled On The Run, which he promised was dropping sometime this week, the Atlanta rapper was arrested in Georgia on Tuesday (Sept. 11) on numerous drug-related charges. The news arrived shortly after authorities issued a warrant for his arrest on eight felonies. Following the arrest, Thugger's go-to engineer Alex Tumay has indicated that On The Run has been hit with a bit of a delay.
From the sound of his tweets regarding the situation, the record was finished, including the mixing process, before Thug turned himself in after the warrant for his arrest was issued. "Turned in mixes before he turned himself in so I could make sure he was happy with it," he tweeted. "Clearances take time."
It seems the delay isn't because of Thug's arrest, but because of sample clearance issues. He didn't offer much more information about when to expect the album, but he did promise it was coming "soon."
He also reposted an image that Thug posted before turning himself in, seemingly confirming the very exciting series of features set to appear on the album. Most exciting of the tentative guests is undoubtedly Elton John, but the record is also supposedly set to feature Jaden Smith and 6LACK among others.
Thug's charges for his recent arrest stem from a 2017 incident in Brookhaven, Georgia, where Thug was taken into custody for possession and intent to distribute meth, hydrocodone, and marijuana. He was also hit with charges for possession of a firearm, codeine, amphetamine, and Alprazolam. A bond has not been set.
