Future’s ‘BEASTMODE 2’ Debuts at No. 3 as Drake’s ‘Scorpion’ Spends Second Week at No. 1

Drake dominates the Billboard 200 for the second week in a row, while Future's ‘BEASTMODE 2’ and Meek Mill's 'Legends of Summer' both debut in the Top 10.

Last week, Drake earned his eighth straight No. 1 project after Scorpion topped the Billboard 200. As predicted, the Canadian rapper is spending yet another week holding down the No. 1 spot, after pushing an additional 335,000 equivalent album units with 29,000 in traditional album sales.

It’s no surprise that Scorpion is still dominating the charts, considering every track on the album debuted on the Billboard Hot 100 last week. It's now the fourth album of 2018 to spend multiple weeks at No. 1, with the largest second week of any album since Adele’s 25 back in 2015. This also marks Drake’s 23rd week ever at No. 1 on the Billboard 200. He trails behind Eminem and JAY-Z, who have 32 and 25 weeks at No. 1 respectively.

Even though Drake spent another week on top, Meek Mill and Future's summer drops both had solid debuts.

Future and Zaytoven’s BEASTMODE 2 debuted at No. 3. The nine-track joint met projections, selling 57,000 album equivalent units. There were no pure album sales to boost the numbers since the project is only available for streaming, but it still became Future’s ninth Top 10. The first-week result beats Chance the Rapper's Coloring Book for highest-charting streaming-only release.

Meek’s four-song EP Legends of the Summerwhich includes his single “Stay Woke” with Miguel, pushed 26,000 album equivalent units its first week with 6,000 in pure album sales, putting it in the No. 9 spot. This is Meek’s fifth Top 10 effort, and his first since his prison release in April.

Both of these projects are teasers to full-blown albums fans hope will come out later this year. Future will be hitting the road with Nicki Minaj in late September for the NICKIHNDRXX World Tour.
