Disneyland Paris Apologizes to Couple After Staffer Interrupted Marriage Proposal

Video of the incident was shared on Reddit this week and his since gone viral. A spokesperson for the theme park says they've "offered to make it right."

So much for being “the happiest place on earth.”

Disneyland Paris received backlash this week after one of its workers ruined a marriage proposal l in front of Sleeping Beauty’s castle. A now-viral video showed the man kneeling on one knee as he presented the ring to his partner. The woman becomes visibly emotional and puts her hands over her mouth, as on-lookers immediately break into applause. However, before the man can stand on his feet, a nearby Disneyland staffer rushes to grab the ring box out of his hand.

The worker, who has not been identified, proceeds to walk off the platform and gestures for the couple to follow. The clearly confused man follows the employee down the steps and says, “She said, ‘yes.’”

“Yes, that’s great,” the worker responds, “but over here will be even better.”

The clip was originally posted by Redditor wasgehtlan, who claimed to have known the man who popped the question.

“POS destroyed my best friends moment,” the user wrote. “He asked for permission beforehand.”

The video has garnered mix responses, but the majority have been critical of Disneyland Paris and the employee.

“If some stranger ran up and snatched a diamond ring out of my hand, more than the moment would be ruined,” one Redditor wrote.

“It’s surreal how such little power can go to peoples’ heads,” another commented.

A spokesperson for Disney says the theme park has since communicated with the couple and apologized.

“We regret how this was handled,” a Disney spokesperson told Newsweek. “We have apologized to the couple involved and offered to make it right.”
