George H.W. Bush Is Reportedly Going to Vote for Hillary Clinton
Report indicates that former president George H.W. Bush will vote for Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton in November.
Will former Republican president George H.W. Bush vote for the Democratic nominee and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton this November? According to a report from Politico, that is the case. The 92-year-old former president and father of a former president will be voting for the wife of his successor, Bill Clinton, in the election this fall.
The cat was let out of the bag on Monday by another member of a famous political family: former Maryland lieutenant governor and daughter of the late Robert F. Kennedy, Kathleen Hartington Kennedy Townsend. Politico reports that Townsend posted a picture of her shaking hands next to H.W. on her Facebook page along with a caption that said, "The President told me he's voting for Hillary!!"
Nonetheless, don't expect H.W. to campaign for H.R.C. In fact, he might not even acknowledge it. Early this morning, Jim McGrath, the official spokesperson for H.W., tweeted that the claim by "KKT" (Kathleen Kennedy Townsend) hasn't been verified:
H.W. had planned on keeping his mouth shut this election, which in and of itself suggests that the former Republican president might not be a big fan of Donald Trump. When asked about KKT's Facebook post, McGrath emphasized that H.W. is trying to stay out of the race. "The vote President Bush will cast as a private citizen in some 50 days will be just that: a private vote cast in some 50 days," McGrath told Politico. He is not commenting on the presidential race in the interim." Though, of course, that's not necessarily denying that H.W. will vote for Clinton.
Earlier this year, H.W. and his wife, former First Lady Barbara Bush, campaigned for their son Jeb Bush in the Republican primary. But ever since Trump conquered Jeb and the rest of his GOP opponents, the Bush family has stayed away from politics, not even going to the Republican National Convention this summer. George W. Bush has been chilling down in Dallas painting pictures, so don't expect him to get involved this election either.
