Not long after announcing her pregnancy, Rihanna visited the West Los Angeles Veterans Affairs campus to show her support to homeless vets.
As shared by activist Sennett Devermont in an extensive post on Instagram, Rihanna turned up to lend her ear to vets struggling to maintain safe housing in the city. “Thank you again @badgalriri for your amazing heart, time and energy,” wrote Devermont in the post above.
“I met Rihanna, the greatest singer on earth,” said a vet in a video shared by the AFTP Foundation. “She donated clothes, food, and she cares about the veterans. … United States Army veterans. U.S. Marine veterans. Air Force veterans. She cares about all the veterans. She cares about us and she showed us. And she’s going to take care of business.”
The post highlighted just how much Rihanna's time was appreciated, as well as the supplies she donated. "Despite all circumstances of how veterans are treated sleeping in tents on asphalt or tiny sheds on land they should call a home, I can say hope and joy was spread to the Veterans," reads the AFTP post. "The authenticity of actually caring and listening was beyond the amazing supplies that @badgalriri donated. Rihanna made that happen when she visited the vets today. Honored to have been witness to this!"
On source who was present told Page Six that Rihanna was there “for hours” listening to the “concerns” and “issues” of veterans living on the streets. “She was genuinely interested and concerned,” added the source, who noted there were no PR or camera crews present. In fact, Riri showed up in a very casual, all-black outfit complete with a mask. “She actually cared. She listened to everyone and distributed everything. She took photos with anyone who asked," added the source.
It was reported that Rihanna is expecting her first child with ASAP Rocky at the end of last month. In her first post about her pregnancy, she showed off her baby bump and wrote “how the gang pulled up to Black History Month.”
