A dramatic explosion at Yellowstone National Park sent dozens of people running for safety.
The sudden hydrothermal blast happened on Tuesday at around 10 a.m. near Biscuit Basin, a group of hot springs just a few miles north of the Old Faithful Geyser, according to the Associated Press.
Footage of the incident circulating online shows several dozen people nearly frozen from the initial impact of the explosion as they watch from a boardwalk. The visitors eventually begin to run in the other direction once the steam, water, and dark debris begins to fall around them.
Although no injuries were reported, the boardwalk, which keeps visitors away from the fragile and geothermal areas of the park, was damaged by the explosion. The Biscuit Basin area was closed over safety concerns.
Believe it or not, the explosion was relatively small for the park’s standards and was not reported to be an indication of new volcanic activity, which is said to remain at normal levels.
