A Texas man who shared a video of him licking a carton of Blue Bell ice cream at a Walmart has been sentenced to 30 days in jail, with an additional 180 days probation over two years, NBC affiliate WTHR reports.

24-year-old D’Adrien Anderson is also obligated to finish 100 hours of community service.

“As a condition of probation, Anderson is required to pay a fine of $1000 and restitution in the amount of $1,565 to Blue Bell Creameries,” a Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office news release stated.

The sentencing comes after Anderson pleaded guilty to a class A misdemeanor charge on Jan. 15. The incident took place in August 2019, when he posted a clip of himself opening the ice cream and licking it before placing it back inside the freezer at Walmart. The video ultimately went viral.

In the video, Anderson looks to be walking away after putting the ice cream back. However, he later said that he paid for the ice cream, which wasn’t included in the video. He was able to show police a receipt for the item.

However, Anderson was still arrested and charged with criminal mischief because of the monetary loss that Walmart endured after they had to dispose of all the Blue Bell ice cream in their freezer.

Anderson’s video was a copycat of a similar video that went viral in July 2019. The clip showed a girl licking the same brand of ice cream before placing it back on the shelf. Police later claimed that they identified the person, who was 17-years-old.
