In a moment of outrage following the killing of Terence Crutcher at the hands of a police officer in Tulsa, Okla., Ohio police chief Rodney Muterspaw went on Twitter to express his anger and despair over police shootings. Muterspaw's tweets are protected, but NBC News reports that he sent out at least two tweets on Tuesday where he spoke up against police killings, one of which was shared more than 9,500 times as of Wednesday morning.
The tweet that has captured the most attention said, "As an officer I am so sick and drained of some cops doing things like this. You are making us all look bad. STOP." Muterspaw also tweeted, "Life is precious man. Sorry we don't all agree. Compassion and empathy is eternally important. Just sick of seeing death & hate. #Life."
Muterspaw has garnered a lot of praise on Twitter for his remarks, with many people saying that more officers need to speak up and help to create change from within the police system.
Muterspaw told WCPO in Cincinnati that he stands by his comments and said he believes cops should do everything they can to "protect life first."
