Tremaine Emory has been recruited as a guest designer for a new Dior capsule.

As first reported by Women’s Wear Daily on Thursday, the Dior Tears capsule—which Emory worked on alongside Dior Men artistic director Kim Jones—will be unveiled at the Grand Egyptian Museum this week. Speaking with the publication on what to expect from the collection, Emory—whose Denim Tears recently launched a collab with Sky High Farm Workwear—teased how the new capsule’s presentation will serve as a tribute to Black creatives including James Baldwin and Miles Davis.

Specifically, Emory said, the capsule explores “how they romanced the idea of being treated differently in Paris and Europe.” He continued, “That romance of being celebrated for who you are, where you are from, the way you live, the way you dressed, your lifestyle and your talents is what we have focused on.”

Behind the soon-to-be-unveiled lookbook is photographer Liz Johnson Artur, although Emory also noted that additional imagery is being worked on with Dexter Navy.

In September, the designer spoke with Complex about the vision behind Pyrex Tears, as well as the sustaining impact of Virgil Abloh’s multi-layered artistic journey. See more here.

In October, Dior rolled out a new ski capsule from Jones, with included pieces ranging from helmets to body armor. Meanwhile, Dior’s ERL collaboration was featured earlier this year among Complex’s coverage of the best brands of 2022 alongside Louis Vuitton, Human Made, and more.
