RALPH LAUREN UNVEILS THE EARTH POLO

Over the years, Ralph Lauren has used its signature polo to support everything from breast cancer research to LGBT rights to funding for global disaster relief. The American brand continues its philanthropic efforts today with the release of its Earth Polo, a sustainable version of its most iconic design.

The piece is made entirely of recycle water bottles that were collected from low-income neighborhoods. Each polo was crafted from about 12 water bottles that were turned into thread and then dyed using a zero-water process. The shirt was made in collaboration with First Mile, an organization that helps collect plastic bottles and transform them into wearable textiles.

As part of the Polo Earth launch, Ralph Lauren announce its plans to remove at least 170 million bottles from landfills and oceans within the next six years.

"When Ralph founded our company more than 50 years ago, he did so with the idea that whatever we create is meant to be worn, loved, and passed on for generations," said Halide Alagoz, Ralph Lauren's executive vice president, chief supply chain and sustainability officer. "It’s with this spirit of timelessness that we approach sustainability."

You can check out the Earth Polo in the images above and below. The piece is available in green, white, navy, and light blue colorways, and can be purchased at Ralph Lauren's online shop and global retail stores.
