Yeezy Season approached with little warning again this year, as it tends to do. Following a casting call last week, invitations for today's Season 4 presentation arrived via email early this morning, letting press, retailers, and an assortment of boldface names know they'd be spending their afternoon taking in Kanye West and Adidas' latest collection of apparel and accessories. If you didn't catch the livestream on Tidal, here is a quick recap of everything that you need to know.
WHAT: Yeezy Season 4 was, as the name suggests, Kanye's fourth presentation during New York Fashion Week, and the first since his major deal with Adidas was announced earlier this summer. Kanye once again partnered with performance artist Vanessa Beecroft to stage the presentation, which featured models in Adidas body suits, sports bras, and athletic gear standing barefoot for an extended period of time, before models processed around wearing full Yeezy looks. Unlike other shows, this time around Kanye presented his apparel and accessories exclusively on female models.
This season's collection was in line with West's past collections. There were tight tank dresses, oversize coats, and crop tops, frequently in shades of nude and other neutrals. A few footwear options, including thigh-high boots, clear heels, and slides, were also sprinkled throughout the line, along with a pair of all-white Yeezy Boost 350 V2 and tan Yeezy Boost 350s. In essence, Season 4 looked a lot like Kim Kardashian's closet.
The event was also the debut of a new collection of Kanye merch. Two long-sleeve T-shirts—in white and neon yellow—with "SEASON 4" on the back and details of the show on the front were available at the entrance. The product, which came with a special "SEASON 4" tag, was sold for $75.
WHERE: Guests were instructed to catch shuttle buses in Manhattan, where they were driven across town to Roosevelt Island in the East River. The presentation took place in an open patch of grass at Franklin D. Roosevelt Four Freedoms Park at the southern end of the island.
WHO: As always, Kanye's notable guests this season were a large and enthusiastic selection of his friends and cohorts. In addition to wife Kim Kardashian West and sisters-in-law Kendall and Kylie Jenner—all of whom arrived after the other guests were seated—attendees included Pusha T, Pharrell Williams, Tyga, Fabolous, Consequence, Desiigner, 2 Chainz, Vic Mensa, DJ A-Trak, Quavo from Migos, Justine Skye, the Cleveland Cavaliers' Iman Shumpert, fashion editor and stylist Carine Roitfeld, Fear of God designer Jerry Lorenzo, director Spike Jonze, Maxwell Osborne and Dao-Yi Chow of Public School, model Winnie Harlow, and Formula 1 driver Lewis Hamilton. Model Chanel Iman walked in the show, as did "Fade" video star Teyana Taylor, and Sofia Richie.
