There’s a new fashion trend happening in Taiwan at the moment. And it’s complete trash. Literally.
As pointed out by The Daily Mail, many Taiwanese men and women have been shedding their regular clothes in favor of convenient store plastic bags—the most popular being from 7-Eleven.
We’re not sure why this is catching on. Wearing thin, flimsy plastic just seems so impractical and pretty risky. But despite the obvious cons, many people have proudly rocked this look on social media. And, to no one’s surprise, the rest of the world isn’t feeling it:
Some have speculated that the fad was inspired by St. George New Generation, an Australian fashion collective that sent models down the runway wearing plastic bags over their heads. Others have theorized that the trend is a statement about the industry’s issue of wastefulness, which is a bit of a stretch, but anything is possible nowadays.
Again, we’re not sure what the reasoning is. We hope this doesn't catch on in the States.
