Kyrie Irving took to Twitter where he accused media corporations of “degrading BLACK/African/Indigenous community heroes.”

The tweets appear to be in response to the waves of criticism he and Kevin Durant have faced after the Brooklyn Nets were swept by the Boston Celtics.

“When I see my name or my brothers/sisters names getting spun through the media, I refer to all my research about who they are,” Irving tweeted Thursday. “Their job is to CONTROL PUBLIC PERCEPTION, all while profiting off discussing, discrediting, and disrespecting people’s lives for entertainment.”

Irving specifically took aim at what he called “media corporations” who he said profit by “degrading” people of color and minorities. “They thrive off of it, and then sell it back to us by having a hand selected person or group of people spark controversy about them for the world to see,” he wrote.

The Brooklyn Nets’ season came to an abrupt end on Monday, which led to heavy criticism for Durant and Irving. Charles Barkley was particularly harsh on Durant, which prompted the superstar to respond via Instagram.

Irving, meanwhile has had a very prickly relationship with the media in the past, so it’s no surprise that he took issue with some of the things that have been said since the Nets were eliminated.

“When you become free mentally and spiritually, there is not much this twisted/Racist society can surprise you with,” Irving continued on Twitter. “My ancestors left behind all of the wisdom and truth for their agenda to be exposed. When you know exactly who they are, they can’t hide from their filth.”
