Despite a successful start to the season, the XFL is still missing a proven star who will force viewers to tune in every week. But the league's failure to secure big-name talent isn't due to a lack of effort.

While talking to the media after a Mets Spring Training event in Florida, Tim Tebow revealed that he had a "couple of conversations" with XFL executives.

"There was some communication," Tebow said when asked about potential XFL offers. "We had a couple of conversations. ... I love what they're doing. I think it has a chance to have success and I think that's great. ... But for me, this is what I wanted to do."

Tebow is perhaps best known for his Heisman-winning stint as the quarterback for the Florida Gators and his short time as a professional. Since leaving the NFL, Tebow has shifted his focus to pursue a baseball career. He is now in his fifth season with the New York Mets' AAA team, the Syracuse Mets, and he's determined to make a debut in the major leagues.

Tim Tebow isn't the only star that the XFL has tried to court. Last week, XFL commissioner, Oliver Luck, said that the league reached out to a representative for Colin Kaepernick. After a few exchanges, it became clear the start-up league would not be able to offer a salary that would entice Kaepernick to play. The XFL also has a strict policy that requires all players to stand for the National Anthem.
