After we all witness what was possibly the worst missed call in the history of professional sports, it is rumored that there are now talks within the NFL on whether the league should make pass interference a reviewable call.

On Sunday (Jan. 20), the referees missed a blatant pass interference call on Ram cornerback Nickell Robey-Coleman. If the flag was thrown, it would have given the New Orleans Saints a first down, potentially shifting the outcome of the NFC Championship game. However, the neglected penalty stopped the Saints from being able to run the clock and attempt the go-ahead field goal that would have secured a trip to the Super Bowl.

The league quickly acknowledged their mistake and has since apologized to New Orleans head coach Sean Payton.

"We spoke initially, then I called to follow up. And the first thing (head of officials Alberto Riveron) said when I got on the phone — 'We messed it up,'" Payton stated during his post-game interview.

For Payton (and fans), this admission of guilt did not sooth the wounds of losing the game in overtime. Instead, it solidified the fact the NFL's outdated officiating rules are due for an upgrade.

As a result, the league is now considering making the pivotal judgment call one that can be reviewed once the season comes to an end.

"It will be discussed at length along with additional fouls that coaches feel should be subject to review," an NFL source told the Washington Post. Another insider that claimed that there will also be a discussion on replay reviews of calls and non-calls.

If discussions prevail, this will hopefully put an end to plays like the Saint no-call or Dez Bryant's "Catch?" that have changed the course of important games and shifted NFL history.
