On Monday, EA Sports released the results of their annual Madden Super Bowl predictions. The simulation resulted in a close game of Madden NFL 19, with the Los Angeles Rams topping the New England Patriots in Super Bowl LIII by a score of 30-27.
It was a seesaw affair, with Brady and the Pats dominating the Rams early, leading by a score of 17-3 at the half. However, after the break, the Rams avenged Atlanta by roaring back from a big deficit to beat New England in the home of the Falcons. The Rams' comeback was anchored by the outstanding play of Aaron Donald, who finished the game with four sacks en route to winning Super Bowl MVP.
Despite the Pats season-long claims that they're the "underdog," Vegas actually favorites them to win the big game, which is set to unfold this coming Sunday. Hopefully the Madden outcome provides some solace for Rams fans, who are in tough against Super Bowl stalwarts Brady and Bill Belichick.
Since the annual tradition began in 2004, the Madden Super Bowl simulation has correctly predicted 10 out of the 14 winners. In fact, in 2014, the simulation's final score mirrored that of the actual game. Yet, as evidenced by the Eagles' 2018 win, nothing (not even Madden, which had the Pats winning that game) can truly predict what will happen on Super Bowl Sunday.
