After his big weekend, Conor McGregor took to Twitter to let the world know that he's a fan of Donald Trump.
After Trump commemorated MLK day by tweeting that "African-American Unemployment is the LOWEST in the history of our Country, by far," McGregor responded with some words of praise for the president.
"Quite possibly the USA [GOAT]. Most certainly one of them anyway, as he sits atop the shoulders of many amazing giants that came before him," the Irish fighter wrote. "No easy feet. Early stages of term also. Incredible. Congrats and Happy Martin Luther King Jr. day America."
Trump showed his appreciation for McGregor's compliment by congratulating him on his win over Donald "Cowboy" Cerrone.
In recent years, McGregor has been all over the place in terms of where he stands on Trump. In 2015, the fighter went on the offensive against Trump after he criticized Ronda Rousey for not touching gloves with Holly Holm. At the time McGregor claimed that he didn't "give a fuck about Donald Trump." In 2017, he told GQ Style’s Zach Baron that blaming Trump is not the right way to go about fixing your problems. “I feel you’re in charge of your own situation,” he said. “When you start blaming others for your situation, like I see all these people screaming at these politicians, and I was like, ‘It’s the wrong mind-set!’ ”
“People like to blame others," McGregor added. "I think a person should just look at their own situation, look around them, find out what they wish to do, and seek and go and do that. And that’s it. I was in New York when all of that was going down, the protests in New York with the Trump thing. It’s like, ‘Trump, out!’"
As one might expect, people weren't too thrilled about Conor's Twitter exchange with President Trump.
