Following Simone Biles' hugely successful time at the 2024 Paris Olympics, her biological mother has indicated that she would "like to make amends."

Shanon Biles, 52, recently spoke with British tabloid The Daily Mail and opened up about how she wants to repair her relationship with her daughter, who entered foster care before she was adopted by her grandfather Ron Biles and his wife Nellie Cayetano Biles in 2000. "It was hard to give up my kids, but I had to do what I had to do," shared Shanon, who struggled with drug and alcohol addiction.

"I wasn't able to care for them," she continued. "I was still using and [my father] didn't want me coming and out of their lives when I wasn't right. ... I would like to make amends with Simone personally. I'm just waiting for her and Adria. I speak to Adria more than I speak to Simone. I would just ask her to forgive me. Can we move forward? Don't judge me on my past. Let's move forward."

Shanon has mostly been out of her daughter's life and did not attend Simone's wedding to Jonathan Owens last year. "I'm waiting for the opportunity but I'm waiting on her to be able to come to me," she said. "Let's have sit down. I just have to be patient."

Regardless of their strained relationship, Shanon said that she loves her and is "very proud" of her. She stressed that she's sober these days, but she's still a "recovering addict and will always be an addict." Shanon added, "I'm not the person I used to be. I'm okay, today. I'm a loving person. I'd give you the shirt off my back."
