Champion Boxer Errol Spence Jr. Reportedly Rushed to Hospital Following Car Crash (UPDATE)

UPDATED 10/16, 12:10 p.m. ET: Errol Spence has been charged with DWI, TMZ reports. After conducting an investigation into the accident, Dallas PD charged Spence on Wednesday, with a class B misdemeanor for driving while intoxicated.

Welterweight champion boxer Errol Spence Jr. has reportedly been rushed to hospital with serious injuries following a car crash in Dallas. CBS 11 News says Spence crashed his Ferrari sometime around 3 a.m. on Thursday. Authorities said the vehicle rolled over multiple times, ejecting him from the driver seat.

The identity of the driver has not been confirmed, but sources indicate Spence was involved with the description of the driver fitting. Police said he was taken to a nearby hospital's intensive care unit, but is expected to survive. The investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing.

"On [Oct. 10] at 2:53 a.m. a white Ferrari traveling at a high rate of speed northbound in the 500 S. Riverfront Blvd. The Ferrari veered left over the center median onto the southbound lanes and flipped multiple times ejecting the driver who was not wearing a seatbelt," the Dallas Police Department statement on the crash reads. "The driver was taken to an area hospital where he is expected to live, but remains in ICU. The driver, a black male 29-years-old, was the only occupant in the vehicle. The name of the driver will be released at a later [time]. The cause of the accident is undetermined at this time."
