Last month, former New York Mets pitcher Dwight "Doc" Gooden was charged with cocaine possession and driving under the influence. Gooden was pulled over in New Jersey after he committed traffic violations, and during the stop the authorities discovered "two, small green zip-lock style plastic baggies containing suspected cocaine." Now, just over a month later, TMZ reports that he's been arrested for driving under the influence.

The 54-year-old former MLB player was pulled over on Monday evening in New Jersey after he drove the wrong way down a 1-way street. Sources close to authorities report that Gooden was a "mess" during the stop, and was later taken to a hospital. "At approximately 11:10 p.m., police patrolling the area of Ferry and Vincent streets conducted a motor vehicle stop of a 4-door 2012 black Chrysler observed driving in the wrong direction down a one-way street," Newark officials said in a statement. "EMS responded to the scene to evaluate the driver, who was arrested and transported to University Hospital for further evaluation."

The previous arrest took place on June 7, in which Gooden was charged with 3rd-degree possession, possession of drug paraphernalia, and being under the influence. He was scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday (July 23) for the first arrest, although it's unclear if his new DUI arrest impacted the court date at all.

Gooden has struggled with substance abuse over the years. He tested positive for drugs numerous times between 1987 and 1994, and was later suspended for an entire season in 1995 due to his drug use. In 2016, he said that he was clean and sober.
