On this dayβ€”June 5β€”11 years ago, Paul PierceΒ further solidified his legacy with the "Wheelchair Game." DuringΒ the third quarter ofΒ Game 1 of the 2008 NBA Finals against the Los Angeles Lakers, Pierce went down with what appeared to be a serious injury. Boston Celtics fans feared the worst, and their concerns were only heightened by the sight of The Truth getting awkwardly carried out by his teammates.

Viewers at home were subjected to the sight of Pierce getting taken to the locker in a wheelchair. By all accounts, anyone could have assumed that he was done. But a few minutes later, Pierce returned to the court, immediately knocked down back-to-back three-pointers, and helped lead the Celtics to theΒ Game 1 victory.Β

Over time, Pierce's once-heroic moment started to becomeΒ muddiedΒ by rumors that his Game 1Β injury was actually because he needed to use the bathroom. Tonight,Β The Truth told the truth. "Something went down," Pierce said. "I had to go to the bathroom."
