The Warriors have been rolling through the playoffs despite being without two of their stars. DeMarcus Cousins tore his quadriceps in Game 2 of their first round series against the Clippers, but they were still able to advance. Kevin Durant blew his calf versus the Rockets; Golden State ended that series in Game 6 at Houston. Golden State went on to sweep the Blazers.
The Warriors got Cousins back for the first game of the Finals, but the squad is still down a game and a Durant. The two-time Finals MVP could hit the court soon, though. Yahoo Sports reports Durant is expected to return from his calf strain midway through the series. A Game 3 comeback is possible, but sources say a Game 4 appearance is more likely.
Durant hasn't been quiet during his time with one working calf. During his first press interviews since the injury, Durant told reporters that he chimes in on social media talks about him because—since he's a basketball player named Kevin Durant—he's qualified. He also appeared on the NBA Finals edition of Jimmy Kimmel's Mean Tweets. The rude tweet Durant read called him a "weak ass, ***** ass, candy ass. Flopping *****" and suggested he undergo "vaginal reconstruction surgery."
"That's a lot," Durant said with a grin. Watch the segment (which features Bradley Beal, Kyle Lowry, Kemba Walker, and the Lopez brothers) below.
Social media commentary aside, Durant is still eager to get on the court against the Raptors, who handed the Warriors their first Game 1 playoff loss since 2016. His teammates said he was "sick to his stomach" as a spectator.
