'The 1 Reimagined' showcases the talents of discrete, all-female group of internal Nike designers as they reinterpret the iconic Air Force 1 and Air Jordan 1 silhouettes.
Behind the collection is a team of 14, each chosen as representations of a distinct skill set amongst Nike's design group comprised of over 1,000. Within the group are colourists, material specialists, and designers for both men's and women's mainline footwear products. They were tasked to: “Make some cool shit.” with a time frame of two weeks from brief to final design.
Speaking on the collection and the team behind it, Footwear Director Andy Caine says: “The genesis of creativity is diversity, from a design point of view, each of the designers has a very unique background and personality. Our theory is that when you mix diverse creative talents you realize some magic.”
Allowing this diverse team a space to create and craft using blank silhouettes delivered a bold and daring collection of icons in ways that we have never seen them before.
