Tiffany Haddish has confirmed she’ll be returning for the highly-anticipated Girls Trip sequel, despite potential backlash over her involvement.

In an interview with TMZ, as seen above, Haddish reiterated that she’ll be in the recently announced sequel despite the since-dropped child sex abuse lawsuit against her and comedian Aries Spears. When told it has been suggested she should be written out of the sequel due to the lawsuit, she responded, “I don’t have an opinion… I will do anything with those women, I love those people. I love everybody that worked on that. We had a blast. They want to work with me, I want to work with them. … I know that the girls [want to do it] too, we’ve talked about it often.”

Haddish seemed unbothered when asked if she’s worried about any possible backlash over her appearance in the film. “I can’t be concerned about what people think,” she continued. “I gotta be concerned about how I feel. When I look in the mirror, am I happy with what I see? Yes ma’am. God made it, God did a good job, and God knows the truth.”

The woman who accused Haddish and Spears of child sex abuse in connection with a 2013 Funny or Die sketch filed a motion to dismiss the lawsuit in September, 2022. “My family and I have known Tiffany Haddish for many years, and we now know that she would never harm me or my brother or help anyone else do anything that could harm us,” the woman said in a statement. “We wish Tiffany the best and are glad that we can all put this behind us.”

In a brief interview with TMZ that same month, Haddish suggested that she’s lost a lot of work because of the lawsuit even though it’s since been dropped. “I lost everything,” she said. “All my gigs, gone. Everything, gone. … I don’t have no job.” She currently has three films in post-production; Landscape with Invisible HandHaunted Mansion, and Back on the Strip

Per Variety, writer-director-producer Tracy Oliver confirmed plans to reunite the main Girls Trip cast for a sequel set in West Africa last month. "That it’s officially happening," she said of Girls Trip 2. "I can say that.” Regina Hall, Queen Latifah, and Jada Pinkett Smith are also expected to return alongside Haddish.
