‘Mighty Ducks’ Actor Shaun Weiss Celebrates 2 Years of Sobriety, Thanks Fans for Their Support

The actor 'Might Ducks' trilogy actor last year completed a court-ordered drug program, which resulted in the dropping of a prior burglary case.

Shaun Weiss, an actor most known for his work in the Mighty Ducks film series, is celebrating two years of sobriety this week.

Weiss, per a report from TMZ, originally planned to commemorate the anniversary on Tuesday by paying a visit to one of his favorite California spots, Brent’s Deli. The plan was to link up with his friend Drew Gallagher (also an actor) at the restaurant, though Weiss ultimately opted for takeout due to feeling “under the weather” as of late.

“A journey of a thousand miles begins with 12 amazing steps,” Weiss wrote on Instagram when sharing side-by-side comparison photos of himself earlier this week. In another post shared the same day, Weiss thanked fans for their love and support, as well as advised anyone who may be struggling and in need of treatment to reach out to the Quest 2 Recovery alcohol and drug addiction treatment center.

As previously reported, Weiss—who played goalie Greg Goldberg in the original three Ducks films—completed a court-ordered drug program last July. At the same time, Weiss also had a burglary case tossed, with the Yuba County District Attorney’s Office praising the actor for having shown “perseverance during his recovery” despite complications from the pandemic and a “serious accident” involving a family member.

Weiss was arrested back in January 2020 and initially faced burglary and methamphetamine-related charges. Amid his inspiring recovery journey, he’s been able to resume work by making special guest appearances and other interactions with fans, including on Cameo.
