An Indianapolis woman has been charged after she fired a shot at a repairman to avoid paying for his service.
WTHR 13 reports that Reba Wilson was arrested after she shot at an HVAC technician, Nate Baird, reportedly because she didn’t want to pay a $70 service fee when he diagnosed a problem in her dryer.
According to him, Wilson claimed that because her dryer was under warranty, she wasn't going to pay.
"She said, 'I don't want to pay that.' I said, ‘Well, I don't work for free.' So, I went to leave, and she pointed a gun at me right in the front of her house and forced me to stay there and said, ‘You're going to fix my dryer,'" Baird said to WTHR 13 about the situation.
Faced with the possibility of being shot, Baird told the news station that he acted as if he was going to put Wilson’s dryer back together.
When he had the chance to escape, he ran out of the back door as he heard a gunshot and the woman yell, “I’ll pop a cap in your ass!”
Baird escaped and called the police, who arrested Wilson at her home. When they arrived, authorities found a shell casing on top of a dryer and a gun beneath her couch.
Wilson has been charged with criminal recklessness, intimidation, criminal confinement, pointing a gun at someone, and being a serious violent felon with a gun. She appeared in court for her charges on Friday (Oct. 24).
