'Power Rangers' Star Charged With Murder After Allegedly Killing Roommate With a Sword

Ricardo Medina Jr., an actor most known for his work in the Power Rangers franchise, has been formally charged with one count of murder in the fatal 2015 stabbing of his roommate, the Los Angeles Times reports. Medina allegedly stabbed Josh Sutter "multiple times in the abdomen" with a sword in the middle of an argument centered on his girlfriend, though additional details on the altercation have not been made publicly available.

Medina initially avoided charges when he was first arrested in February of last year, though the investigation clearly continued. "[Medina] really is one of the most peaceful guys. He was thrilled and loved being a Power Ranger," Gar Lester, Medina's agent and "trusted friend" tells the Times. "It’s still very difficult for me to believe this was anything but self-defense." Medina most notably appeared on Power Rangers Samurai and Power Rangers Wild Force, though the 38-year-old actor also has credits on CSI: Miami and ER.

Upon release following the first arrest, Medina told reporters he was "very, very, very sorry for what occurred" but "happy" to be out of jail. The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department continued to investigate the Sutter's death following Medina's highly publicized release, an investigation which appears to have steered officials in a very specific direction.

Medina is set to make a court appearance next week.
