The thirst for the fresh iPhone 7 has hit unprecedented levels. In addition to the usual tweaks and upgrades we've all come to expect from every Apple release, the new phone will also be offered in a sleek Jet Black finish to complete one's black-on-black ensemble. But just as we can always rely on Apple to step up their design game, we can also rely on Jimmy Kimmel to get some jokes off at iPhone enthusiasts' expense.

"It's not coming out until September 16th, but most people don't know that," Kimmel told his audience Thursday of the iPhone 7's release strategy. "Most people hear about the announcement and they assume they can just get it right away." To take comedic advantage of this, Kimmel sent his prank team to the streets of Los Angeles to see if people wanted to get a peek at the new iPhone. The catch? Kimmel's team took each person's old iPhone, cleaned it off, put it in a sleek new case, and then presented it to them as the iPhone 7.

By convincing TV-ready pedestrians that the new phone came packed with something called "instant data transfer," Kimmel actually got multiple people to buy this shoddy ruse. The phone they already owned in a new case was then described by prankees as thinner, lighter, smoother, faster, brighter, and glossier than its predecessor. Impressive, Jimmy. We'll give you that.

One dude even gave his mom a call to let her know he was speaking from the unreleased iPhone 7, to which his mother proclaimed their conversation sounded clearer than ever before.

Funny shit. But why the hell is anyone calling anyone ever?
