Jada Pinkett Smith has responded to her son’s recent remarks about how their family has benefited from psychedelics, which are often also referred to as, simply, “plant medicine.”

As first reported by Entertainment Tonight earlier this week, Jaden credited his mother with being “the first one to make that step for the family” while speaking at the Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies (MAPS)’ recent Psychedelic Science conference in Denver.

"It was just her for a really, really long time and then eventually it just trickled and evolved, and everybody found it in their own ways," Jaden, who (alongside his mother) has previously pointed to the ego-cracking power of psychedelics on Red Table Talk, was quoted as saying.

In a subsequent comment to People, Jada responded to her son’s remarks by shrewdly directing those interested to her upcoming book, Worthy. The book, out this October, is where Jada says “it all gets answered.”

To be clear, psychedelics have been shown to be potentially highly effective in helping with a number of health issues, despite the fact that an antiquated legal framework continues to push the opposite narrative to most around the U.S.

The psychedelic experience (whether through psilocybin or elsewhere) can be more quietly revelatory and just all-around fun—like the time I was on shrooms and watched a Taylor Swift poster morph into a goddess-like deity while finally becoming a full-fledged student of her songwriting—and/or it can contribute greatly to getting past any number of mental blocks. On the latter point, for example, I credit psychedelics with helping me come to terms with some deep-rooted issues that were standing in the way of me being capable of truly chasing my highest potential.
