Gigi Hadid was recently arrested and charged over a small amount of weed in the Cayman Islands, per a new report.

According to TMZ, Hadid flew to the Cayman Islands on July 10, landing in a private plane at Owen Roberts International Airport. Upon landing, Customs agents reportedly found a personal use-sized amount of weed and related items.

Both Hadid and another traveler—identified in a separate report from local outlet Cayman Marl Road as Leah Nicole McCarthy—were arrested on weed-related charges. Per the report, Hadid was later released from custody and has been hit with a $1,000 fine. McCarthy was also charged and fined, though neither saw their charges result in a recorded conviction.

When reached for comment by Complex on Tuesday, a rep for Hadid pointed out that the weed in question had been purchased legally.

“Gigi was traveling with marijuana purchased legally in NYC with a Medical license," the rep said in an email to Complex. "It has also been legal for medical use in Grand Cayman since 2017. Her record remains clear and she enjoyed the rest of her time on the island.”

While Hadid hasn’t publicly commented on the news of the arrest, she has shared a number of updates from her recent journey to Instagram, as has McCarthy.
